Michigan Medical Assistant Certification

Medical assistants are valued members of the medical team and are increasingly relied upon to perform both administrative and clinical procedures, communicating and assisting doctors, nurses, patients, medical billing staff, insurance representatives and pharmacists.

The objective of the Medical Assistant Certification program is to prepare students for employment in a modern medical office setting. Students will learn to assist physicians during examination and treatment, and perform a variety of laboratory and clinical procedures. In addition to medical assistant classes, students also participate in medical billing classes, medical coding courses, and learn medical office procedures, keyboarding and word processing. This provides students with an excellent foundation in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, as well as the necessary skills to effectively perform the typical job duties of a medical assistant.

An externship is another key part of our Medical Assistant Certification program. To best prepare for employment in the medical assistant field, students have the opportunity to apply and refine their skills in a real-world on-the-job environment.
